Had a very enjoyable – and lengthy talk – on the controversial IRA Chief of Staff Seán Russell for the East Wall History Group this evening. Great to be back doing these events, even if it’s just still online. Russell became a random historical interest of mine during lockdowns, and with further research for the Liam Lynch book proving difficult. He’s a fascinating subject, and the more recent controversy of the statue in Fairview Park made the prospect of doing a deep dive on Russell himself an irresistible one.
